Joe's 40th Birthday Surprise Weekend

What a completely fantastic way to celebrate Joe turning 40 (if I do say so myself!). It worked out so perfectly that Johnny Socko, the band we were quite the groupies of back in our dating and pre-kid years, was having a reunion weekend at the Bluebird in Bloomington! I found us a fantastic Bed & Breakfast (which was more like a condo!) that was a mere block down from the venue. I booked the place for the weekend and we had a blast! On Friday night, we went to the show with just Emily and Amy - dear friends who joined us throughout our younger years as well. Then, on Saturday night, I gathered up all of Joe's favorite people and they came and celebrating Joe's 40th at the condo before the show. Joe's quartet, Rip Chord and their wives all came - which is always a treat because then Joe gets to sing - another thing that brings him great joy. It was such a great weekend - good food, good people, good music, a great place to stay and a wonderful weekend away. Thanks to my folks for coming to Indy to stay with the kiddos while we were in Bloomington reliving our youth! :)

July, August and September Fun

What a fourth of July it was!  Ugh!
Although it was super fun to be at the lake with Aunt Cat and Uncle Jerry, there was an accident where Morgan had to go to the emergency room.  She was accidentally hit in the eye by a tennis ball (meant to go into the lake for the dog to retrieve).  It was a LONG day for Joe (he went with her, while I stayed at the lake house with the kids).  It all turned out ok.
I brought my first homemade and home grown rhubarb pit - to become a 4th of July tradition!

Here are some fun summer photos from the Rivi - a place we frequented this summer.  We live about a half a mile a way, so we were there almost daily.  The kids took swim lessons and the Bigs took tennis lessons.
It's exactly what summer is all about!
We even took the Hulen's to Luau!

We also joined the Hulen crew for a fun time seeing Stasia Demos Mills perform at a park in Carmel.
The kids saw a few of their friends too!

Joe and I have gone on a trip to Marblehead, Ohio every Labor Day for the last 4 years. We go with Joe's quartet, Rip Chord. It's a wonderful time of fun with the guys and their wives and our kids enjoy time with Mo, Bubba and Ry Ry in Michigan.

Here are a handful of photos of all the kids throughout the last few weeks of summer like weather.
This is a spot we often go after (or during) Joey's piano lessons.

This is at the IMA 100 acres.

We had a great time visiting with our cousins, the Knox's, at Conner Prairie, while they were in town visiting Aunt Cat & Uncle Jerry.

We also enjoyed the Children's Museum.

My dear friends Amy and Emily enjoying our annual trip to the Penrod Festival (KID free!)

JJ had the "Best Day Ever" when we stopped for a cookie at the Illinois Street Emporium for a cookie and we got to MEET Police Officers and saw a Fire Truck depart from the Fire Station.

My dear friends and I went to see Monkey Puzzle in Bloomington, later in September - for another fun time together.
